Castagniccia-Casinca

Piedicroce

Mostly surrounded by chestnut trees, the village has two hamlets, Pastoreccia and Fontana.

Its large 17th century Baroque St Pierre and St Paul church, which was listed in 1976, is full of «treasures»: murals, a famous painting by Constantini, a stucco altar and the oldest organ in Corsica. You can also visit the ruins of the Orezza Convent where Pascal Paoli wrote the ‘Consultes’ that served as the basis for the first U.S. Constitution.
