Vescovato: chief town of history.
A former bishop’s palace and the Canton’s main town, its creation dates back to the 14th century. The village has played an active role in Corsica’s rich history, and has given birth to some of its more famous people. The Baroque church, topped by a belfry, houses three naves and a richly decorated high altar behind its classical facade. The large, welcoming, shaded square is adorned with a beautiful fountain where an imperial eagle has pride of place
